Comes with every Balance Phone, or you can order it standalone. You only pay once you pick a plan and activate.
We send your activation QR by email. If you ordered the phone, you'll also find a printed card with the same QR in your box.
Scan the QR on your Balance Phone Pro. It opens the Balance Mobile portal where you choose your plan and complete activation. The portal installs the eSIM as the final step.
Four tiers, all on the same nationwide 5G and 4G LTE network. You'll pick yours when you scan your activation QR.
Best for light users. Unlimited talk and text, 5 GB of high-speed data.
Most popular. Unlimited talk and text, 10 GB of high-speed data.
Unlimited talk, text, and data. After 20 GB of high-speed data, speeds may be reduced for the rest of the billing cycle.
Our biggest plan. Unlimited talk, text, and data, with hotspot included up to 10 GB. After 22 GB of high-speed data or 10 GB of hotspot use, speeds may be reduced for the rest of the billing cycle.
You'll choose your tier in the Balance Mobile portal after scanning your activation QR. No commitment until then. Plans include unlimited domestic talk and text. The Unlimited plan includes 20 GB of high-speed data; Unlimited Premium includes 22 GB of high-speed data plus 10 GB of hotspot. After your high-speed or hotspot allowance, speeds may be reduced for the rest of the billing cycle. International roaming and international long-distance are not included. Taxes and regulatory fees (such as E911 and state and local taxes) are added on top and itemized on every invoice.
Switching from another carrier
Balance Phone is unlocked. You can switch to Balance from any major US carrier and keep your existing phone number. Your old service stays active until the switch completes, so there's no downtime.
Questions about switching? Email hello@thebalancephone.com.
Network compatibility
Balance Phone is a Samsung device manufactured in Spain for European specifications. It works on most US networks, but not on AT&T or Verizon. If you're on one of these networks, switching to Balance Mobile is how you get your phone connected.
You'll need to switch to Balance Mobile if you're currently on any of these carriers:
If you're already on T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Ultra Mobile, Tello, Mobile X, Google Fi, or US Mobile GSM plans, your current network works with Balance Phone. You can still switch to Balance Mobile if you'd prefer, but you don't have to.
You'll get a Balance Mobile plan that runs on a compatible US network, keep your existing phone number, and your phone will work reliably. The whole process takes about five minutes after you scan your activation QR.
Not sure which network your current carrier uses? Email hello@thebalancephone.com and we'll help you check.
Balance Mobile runs on a nationwide 5G and 4G LTE network with reliable coverage across the United States. You'll get the same reliability you'd expect from any leading carrier, with no extra carrier app to manage.
A note on support: for anything related to your Balance Mobile plan, contact us at hello@thebalancephone.com. We handle activations, billing, porting, and account changes directly.
Common questions
Sign up for Balance Mobile from our shop. There's no charge until you choose a plan and activate. We'll email you an activation QR. If you ordered the phone too, the same QR is also printed on a Welcome card in your box. Scan it on your Balance Phone and you'll land in the Balance Mobile portal where you choose your plan and complete activation.
No. There's no charge until you choose a plan and complete activation. Monthly Balance Mobile plans start at $25 — you're only billed after activation.
No. You choose your plan in the portal after scanning the QR. There's no commitment until you complete activation.
The QR opens the Balance Mobile portal on your phone, where you sign in, pick your plan tier, port your number or get a new one, and finish activation. The portal triggers the eSIM install on your phone as the final step.
Both QRs do the same thing: they open the Balance Mobile portal. Use whichever is easier. You only need to scan one.
About five minutes from scanning the QR to making your first call.
Email hello@thebalancephone.com and we'll resend your activation QR. If you also received a printed Welcome card with your phone, you can use the QR on the card instead. It does the same thing.
Yes. Balance Mobile is available as a standalone product. After you order, you'll get the activation QR by email and follow the same activation process. Balance Mobile is designed for Balance Phone, so this works best if you already own one.
Yes, you can port your number from any US carrier. The number itself is fully portable.
Balance Phone is a Samsung device manufactured in Spain. It works on most US networks but doesn't work on AT&T or Verizon directly. The good news: this is exactly what Balance Mobile is for. When you activate, you'll be on a compatible US network, and you can bring your current phone number with you.
You'll need to switch to Balance Mobile if you're on: AT&T, Verizon, Cricket Wireless, Visible, Consumer Cellular, H2O Wireless, Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, Total Wireless, US Mobile Warp plans, Straight Talk, or TracFone. If you're on T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Ultra Mobile, Tello, Mobile X, Google Fi, or US Mobile GSM plans, your current network already works with Balance Phone (you can still switch to Balance Mobile if you prefer). Not sure about your carrier? Email hello@thebalancephone.com.
Balance Phone is manufactured for European network specifications. AT&T and Verizon use network bands and technologies that aren't supported by this hardware. That's why Balance Mobile exists: when you activate, you're connected through a US network that works perfectly with your phone.
Most ports complete within minutes. Some can take up to a few business days, particularly for landlines and business numbers. Your old service stays active until the port completes.
Yes. In the portal, choose Get a new number and pick one from available numbers in your area code.
Billing starts when you complete activation in the portal, not when you order the eSIM. There's no charge until then.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade from your account at any time. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Yes. Cancel from your account whenever you like. You'll keep service through the end of your current billing cycle.
On the 5 GB and 10 GB plans, your speed slows once you reach your high-speed allowance, for the rest of the billing cycle. On Unlimited, speeds may be reduced after 20 GB of high-speed data. On Unlimited Premium, speeds may be reduced after 22 GB of high-speed data or 10 GB of hotspot use. You'll still be able to call, text, and use basic data, just at a reduced speed.
Hotspot is included only on Unlimited Premium, up to 10 GB per billing cycle. The 5 GB, 10 GB, and Unlimited plans don't include hotspot.
Yes. US carrier plans include regulatory fees (such as E911 and state and local taxes), itemized on every monthly invoice.
