Small details that make daily life calme
We like Balance OS being simple. But simple doesn't mean there aren't small details worth getting right. This release brings together a few of them.
Your apps, one gesture away
On your Essentials screen, swipe up and the search bar comes to meet you. You can type the name of any app on the phone, not just your essentials. Tap the result and you're in. When you're done, swiping down closes search, with no need to find the exact spot to tap.
It's a small gesture, but it saves you the scrolling and keeps your essentials clean and focused.
Essentials that lend a hand
As you choose your everyday apps, Balance OS suggests a few that tend to be useful, Maps among them, so you don't have to go looking for the obvious. One tap and it's on your list.
A faster phone on the Galaxy A16 and A17
We've been working behind the scenes on performance on the Galaxy A16: setup and everyday use feel smoother and lighter. These are improvements you don't see, but you feel.
A gentle nudge, not nagging
Even when an app is blocked, its notifications keep pulling at your attention. A badge or a sound is enough to draw you back, even if you can't open it.
When that happens, you'll see a note on your home screen with one simple suggestion: uninstall it and close the loop. It never appears on top of what you're doing. If the notification arrives while you're using something else, the note waits until you're back.
It gives you two options, uninstall or leave it for later, and nothing happens unless you decide it does. If you'd rather not, the note steps back: you'll see it at most once a day per app, and if you dismiss it twice, it drops to once a week. Nagging would be the opposite of what we do.
It also ignores silent notifications and background service ones, since those aren't interrupting anybody. And it only reads which app the notification came from, never what it says: the title and text are never accessed.
A new Tips page
Open Settings and you'll find Balance OS Tips: short, practical explanations of how the different parts of the system work, all in one place instead of scattered across menus. When there's something new to see, a small dot will let you know, quietly.
